Corrupted and Till It's Over are the only levels that cannot be replayed through Challenge Mode, Playlist Mode, or Party Mode without modifications or hacks.Regardless of each player while playing Story Mode, the character shown during the story sequences and level selections will always be the Blue Square. However, it can only be played through the usage of other controllers. This gamemode can be played in Multiplayer Mode.If the player has a difficult time playing through Story Mode, especially if they're unfamiliar with the Boss Battles, one can enable Casual Mode, doubling their health and making the problematic level much easier. They cannot enable Hardcore Mode either, unless they have access to Chapter Select.

It is also for players who wanted to go for a more casual experience and for those who are willing to unlock more levels and features in the game.Īfter completing Story Mode, the Chapter Select is unlocked.

It is recommended for first time players to play Story Mode first unless they've experienced the game firsthand before. When the player successfully completes a level, that level will be available for play in Playlist Mode. Story Mode is a progression-based game mode where it tells the story about the game's main character, a blue square, as it plays through levels and meets new friends along the way, all while avoiding pink obstacles and hazards that might damage or even break the character. It can be accessed from the game's Main Menu at any time, and the progression saves automatically. Story Mode, or Story for short, is the first game mode in Just Shapes & Beats.
